Why do bad things happen? Why do good things happen? How is it all decided on who gets the fate or fortune so to say? Is there a formula that determines who should have the better life? Is it luck? Heredity? What is it?

There is only one who truly knows the answers to those questions and that’s the man himself in the good Lord above. Then you have everyone else’s opinion that you have the choice of listening to or not. Well, for what it’s worth, here’s mine.

When things go wrong, as many times as we may ask the “why me?” question, we’re never going to get an answer, or at least not one that we’re happy with. So we have to fight to overcome whatever is trying to hold us down or it will eventually defeat us.

As my dear old dad would say as he’d smack his fist into his palm, “You just have to keep pounding, son. Just keep pounding.” He says it with a chuckle, but that’s basically what it comes down to. Keep at it ‘til you beat it.

The question of “why me?” came up to my family and me in a big way on a dreadful night in early March of 1988. It is a night that I will never be able to forget. It has given my family and me a new way of living, and it changed my life forever.
